Ruthbridge Debt Collectors

Have you received a debt collection letter or are you getting calls from Ruthbridge Ltd?

Do you need advice & help on how deal with Ruthbridge debt collectors?

Do you need to make a payment?

Or are you wondering why they keep calling and sending you letters.

Below you'll find out everything there is to know about Ruthbridge Ltd, including their contact and address information.

Help With Ruthbridge Debt Collectors

Who are Ruthbridge Ltd?

Ruthbridge Ltd are a debt collection agency (DCA) that specialise in collecting payments of debts owed by individuals or businesses.

They operate a no-recovery, no-fee service for their clients. So if they don't get you to pay, they don't earn any money. This means they can be relentless in trying to get you to pay. It also means they will chase very old debts and use the tactic of offering to write a large percentage of the debt off if you pay them.

They collect debts on behalf of MBNA credit cards, Bank of Ireland and Lloyds Bank. They also chase debts that have been given up on by other DCA's such as Cabot Financial.

Chances are they are calling or writing to you because they believe you owe money.

If you have been contacted by them, you have to make a decision on how to deal with them.

Do you actually owe them any money?

Ruthbridge are just a debt collection agency, and therefore have to provide clear evidence that you owe the money.

Just because they keep calling or are writing you letters stating that you owe them money, does not mean you actually do. YOU MUST CHECK!

How old is the debt they are collecting?

It could be statute barred, which means you no longer owe it.

If you do owe them money then do not enter into an agreement with them before you have taken advice.

This will make sure that they can prove that you actually owe the debt, and if so, that you get an agreement which is affordable for you.

Too often people are pressurised into paying the amount the debt collection agency want them to pay, even if they really can't afford to pay that much each week or month.

Our experts deal with Ruthbridge Debt Collectors every day, and can quickly help you determine if the debt is statute barred, in which case you won't have to pay anything.

If you do owe the money then we can also give you a FREE financial assessment, which you can then send to Ruthbridge.

This will make sure that if you do owe them money you only enter an agreement to repay on YOUR TERMS, at a rate you CAN AFFORD, rather than the one they may suggest.

Even if you have already entered an agreement with them, we may still be able to help you if you are struggling with the current payments.

What can Ruthbridge Debt Collectors do?

If you have received a letter or call from Ruthbridge Ltd, this may sound scary and intimidating, this is just a normal stage in the collection process for the majority of debts.

Debt collection agencies are not bailiffs. Debt collecting agencies are unable to do anything different to the original creditor.

Companies like Ruthbridge must follow the strict debt collection guidance that are laid down by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority)

The FCAs debt collection rules and guidance sets out minimum standards that all authorised companies involved in debt recovery and debt collection must adhere to in order to be considered fit to operate as a debt collector.

Therefore, under the rules laid down by the FCA, the debt collection company can not claim unfair or excessive collection charges, they can not harrass you, they can't threaten to seize your property (when lawfully they cannot), they can not bypass an appointed representative and contact you directly. The FCA also bans debt collectors from threatening legal action when it is unlikely to take place.

The following actions are all unfair. We've seen all these activities and more. Some of these are outlawed by industry rules or codes of practice, and some of them are illegal:

  • Calling you at unreasonable times
  • Calling you at work without permission or after you've told them to stop
  • Discussing your debts with a family member or employer
  • Taking payments without your permission
  • Refusing to deal with advice agencies like us, or not giving time to consider your options after you've contacted an advice agency for help
  • Pressuring you to pay off a debt by borrowing more money
  • Using legal or technical language to confuse you
  • Sending letters that look like court forms
  • Refusing to give you information about your account when you ask for it
  • Pretending to have legal powers they don't have
  • Adding unreasonable charges, higher than the actual costs of collecting the debt
  • Continuing to contact you for payment when the debt is being disputed
  • Continuing to demand payment when a debt is statute barred – this means the law says the debt is too old to chase through the courts.

If you're one of the many people being sent constant letters, text messages and not answering your phone without looking at "whocallssme.com" in order to avoid the many (and we mean MANY) phone calls by Ruthbridge Debt Collectors. Or if you have received a letter about a debt you don't recognise or think you've paid off, or if you are struggling to repay the amount they are asking for, fill in our simple form and we’ll call you back to see if we can help.

You can also read our "11 steps to deal with debt collectors". This guide explains exactly what they can do and how to dispute a debt and how to handle their calls and letters.

Fantastic,they are life savers.

I Contacted them at 5 pm on a Thursday night, they arranged a meeting Friday morning with all the relevant bodies their because my case was the following Monday .I can't sing their praises high enough they contacted the courts same afternoon. Fantastic response, I avoided bankruptcy on the Monday and was given time to arrange an Iva. I risked losing my home,my mother and fathers home all hope seemed lost until I made that fateful phone call. I can now sleep at night.
